How we work with allocators

Colibrí Strategies helps allocators evaluate venture managers and build venture programs they can explain and defend. Our work draws on independent research from Colibrí Institute on how venture funds are built and how they perform, and on the same fund-design analysis we use with managers. Each engagement starts with your question and scales only as far as it needs to.

Second Read

A free second opinion on one emerging or first-time manager you are weighing. It covers whether the plan holds together and what to ask next. Request a Second Read.

Diagnostic

Four to six weeks. A structured review of your current venture program or a specific manager decision: what you hold, how it fits your objectives, where the gaps and concentrations are, and what to do next.

Focused engagement

Five to eight weeks. Deep work on one question, such as full diligence on a manager, a re-up decision, an emerging manager allocation policy or a committee presentation.

Program

Twelve to twenty weeks. Designing or rebuilding a venture program: objectives, pacing, manager selection process, monitoring and reporting, and documentation the next team or generation can use.

Retained

An ongoing relationship for allocators who want a standing adviser on venture decisions as they come up.

Fees are fixed for each proposal, agreed before work begins. To start a conversation, write to hola@colibristrategies.com or begin with a Second Read.
